Parents - Parent Helpers

Here at Surfside Primary School we encourage parents and the wider community to become involved in the school to strengthen our relationships with families.

We welcome parent helpers in our classrooms, artroom and our kitchen garden. The garden relies on volunteers to help with everything from student cooking classes, to weeding and turning our abundant produce into beautiful jams and sauces. Our annual jam making days are a great opportunity to meet other parents and learn some new culinary skills.

All classroom helpers must provide the school office with a Working with Children Check and undertake a short, once-yearly, five-minute induction with office staff. This can be conducted at any time.

For those unable to help during school hours, there are many other ways to get involved. Each term we hold a working bee on a weekend and at the start of the year each family is asked to nominate the date they would like to attend. We have various fundraising activities such as Easter and Christmas raffles, our annual trivia night and Fresh Food Fair which rely on parental involvement for success.
