Music Program at Surfside
The Music program at Surfside Primary School embraces all the aspects of the Performing Arts and is offered to students from Foundation to Year 6. The program promotes singing, playing instrumental music, performance, dance, drama and creative music making. Students have the opportunity to perform and showcase their skills with a whole school concert. Students also have an instrumental focus, learning skills on a range of different instruments.
We offer a dedicated Music room and have sets of instruments, as well as tuned and untuned percussion instruments. Senior students have the opportunity to be in the school band and perform at school based and community events throughout the year.
Our students have to opportunity to develop their performance skills and learn aspects of stagecraft. Students also use digital technologies to improvise, compose and create music, with our BYOD (bring your own device) iPad program. The Music program is designed to encourage students to be innovative, creative, resilient and confident as performers and to give each student the opportunity to enjoy and embrace the wonderful aspects of the arts curriculum.
